From May 31 to June 2, 8 teachers and students from the School of Music and Dance of our university were invited to participate in the 4th World Nanyin Association Nanyin Gala and Nanyin Academic Symposium. The event was organized by the Federation of Hokkien Associations of Malaysia and hosted by the Hokkien Association of Kuala Selangor & Sabak Bernam.

With the theme of "An Encounter Born of Nanyin", the teachers and students of our university performed a cappella version of the Nanyin piece Listening to Father’s Words. They also co-performed classic Nanyin works such as Walking to the Pavilion, The Final Three Refrains and Wind Blowing Pear Blossoms with Nanyin artists from home and abroad. Their exquisite performances showcased the unique charm of Nanyin art and won wide praise from the guests present.

During the symposium, four teachers from our university actively engaged in the academic exchange and delivered keynote speeches respectively. They also visited local Nanyin associations, promoting our university’s achievements and future plans in Nanyin education. Additionally, they conducted on-site research on the inheritance and development status of Nanyin in the Sekinchan area of Malaysia, gaining deeper insights into the preservation and dissemination of Nanyin overseas. Meanwhile, the School of Music and Dance signed agreements on establishing professional practice bases with five overseas Nanyin organizations from the Philippines, Malaysia and Singapore, providing a new platform for students majoring in Nanyin at our university to gain practical training and internship experience abroad.
