New Breakthrough: Two Disciplines of QNU—Chemistry and Engineering Science—Entered the Top 1% of ESI Global Rankings

According to the latest data from the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database released by Clarivate on September 12, 2024, the disciplines of Chemistry and Engineering Science at our university entered the top 1% in ESI global rankings. This marked the first time disciplines of QNU had achieved this milestone, representing a significant breakthrough in our academic development and a landmark step toward building a first-class application-oriented university with distinctive features.

For the discipline of Chemistry, a total of 1,985 institutions worldwide rankedamong the top 1% of ESI rankings, with a threshold citation count of 7,910. The Chemistry discipline of our university ranked 1,976th globally in terms of citation impact, with 376 high-level papers published and a total citation count of 7,949, i.e. an average citation per paper of 21.14. For the discipline of Engineering Science, a total of 2,546 institutions worldwide entered the top 1% in ESI rankings, with a threshold citation count of 3,576. The Engineering Science discipline of our university ranked 2,493rd globally in terms of citation impact, with 190 high-level papers published and a total citation count of 3,730, i.e. an average citation per paper of 19.63.

In recent years, QNU has placed great emphasis on discipline development. The continuous efforts on deepening the institutional reforms, strengthening strategic planning, and optimizing the structure of academic disciplines significantly enhanced the core competitiveness and international influence of our disciplines. The increasing evident strengths and unique features of academic programs promoted the high-quality development in our discipline construction.
